This chapter introduces a number of concepts that any developer wanting to use EDW to create custom applications, or modify existing ones, should master. Not all concepts are used everywhere in EDW: some are only used in GUI applications, some only in the ETL layers, some others only in multi-dimansional analysis. Most of the concepts introduced in this chapter, though, are basic and general enough to apply to many different areas of EDW.
